With skills that help him camouflage into any character of his liking, the spotlight is on Fahadh Faasil and his most recent passion project, Aavesham‘s Ranga.
We can probably say that “Eda Mone” is the dialogue of this year, but it is the colourful Ranga whose eccentric tactics brought life to the colloquial Malayali phrase. Yet, what does the actor have to say about his iconic character?

Fahadh Faasil on films, acting, and playing Ranga
Apparently, cinema is not the only thing Fahadh Faasil wants his audience to focus on. In an interview on Galatta Plus, the artist shared his true opinion on movies and characters that stay with the viewers long after the ending credits roll. He said, “I have no sense of timelines; I neither start nor finish things on time. And, none of this (the projects he does) is pre-planned. I am just doing things I am excited about. I always tell this to my audience, my commitment to them is just that I’ll try and make the film watchable. I don’t want them to think about me otherwise, or worry about what I’m doing with my life.”
” Just don’t take me seriously once you leave theatres. Think about me only while you are in theatres. I don’t want people to take the discussions on actors or performances even to their dining tables. Just discuss in the theatre or maybe during the drive back home. Cinema is not beyond that; it has a limit. There’s more that you can do with your life than watching cinema.”
Locking in on the audience
But can you really blame his audience for gushing about his talented performance? A farcical character is especially hard to portray on screen, more so a gangster. The kind of smoothness that Fahadh Faasil brings to the big screen is not achieved in just a day’s work. It requires serious polishing and reaffirmation as well as just sheer confidence to let all inhibitions take a back seat and immerse oneself headfirst into a new persona.
Although he professes to be a more accomplished producer, he is undoubtedly a gifted actor. And it is most likely that his humble personality off screen is the real audience magnet. Aavesham is just the kind of a light watch that will lift your spirits and it is all possible owing to the beloved FaFa!
